Our travel plan to Sri Lanka was for a group of six friends. We planned sightseeing and relaxation. Sightseeing in the north and rest in the south of the island.
It was our second trip, so I prepared our travel plan to Sri Lanka without places that we knew. First time we visited Anuradaphura, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Haputale, Lipton’s Seat, Udawalawe National Park and Kandy.
This time we were curious about the northern part of the island and some places related to last war ended in 2009. We also wanted to visit some historical and cultural places in central part of Sri Lanka.
We had 21 days for our holiday, booked hotels and a local driver. We managed to buy tickets at a good price with a short lay-over in Amsterdam.
We started our trip in Cracow to Amsterdam, and next from Amsterdam to Colombo (return flight on the same route).
Here’s our travel plan to Sri Lanka:
- Negombo (2 days)
2. Colombo (1 day)
3. Yapahuwa, Mihintale (1 day)
4. Jaffna ( 1 day)
Jaffna – Point Pedro (1 day)
Jaffna – KKS (1day)
Jaffna – Delft Island (1 day)
5. Trincomalee ( 2 days)
6. Passikudah (1 day)
7. Kandy via Sigiriya (2 days)
8. Hikkaduwa and Galle (5 days)
9. Kolombo (1 day)
Other few days, we spent to move from one point of our trip to another.
The North of Sri Lanka delighted us with its culture, otherness, colours and a small amount of
tourists. We can’t forget about ice cream in the well-known place in Jaffna.
Each of us had their own preferences about the central part of Sri Lanka, but at the top of the list
were: Mihintale and Galle. We were also very impressed by the last day in Colombo, where we saw
the Parliament of Sri Lanka and Pettah Market.
I will describe all places of the travel plan to Sri Lanka, in detail, in my next posts.
